Could You Be Doing Something Wrong?

Every now and then, we receive e-mails from concerned students because they cannot see any effect of the treatment that they apply. They are worried that they might be doing something wrong.

But the problem is almost never that they are doing anything wrong.

If you cannot see an immediate effect, the problem is usually related to either one of the following two aspects:

1. The kind of issue you are trying to help your baby with

The question, how quickly you are going to have results VERY MUCH depends on the kind of issue you are trying to help your child with.

For example, constipation can be relieved rather quickly. In fact, in some babies, it has worked within hours (even minutes!!) after the treatment.

However, other issues, like colic, may take a much longer time (up to 2 weeks) before you can see any effect.

The problem is that issues like colic are much more complex. It is not done with strengthening and balancing specific organs. Instead, the body needs to balance an entire organ system, for example, the digestive system. This takes time.

This leads us to the next aspect why it may take time before you can see any results:

2. Understand how Shonishin and Traditional Chinese Medicine work!

If you go to a doctor and tell them you have headaches, they will usually prescribe a painkiller for your headaches. That painkiller will normally help with the pain.

So for you, the problem is solved. But that is not necessarily the case for your body.

There is a reason why you have developed a headache in the first place. And it is that very reason that we want to focus on, rather than the symptom that it causes.

For example, if that headache is located on your forehead, it is usually caused by a stomach-related problem. If it is located elsewhere on the head, the problem may be related to another organ.

So instead of focusing the treatment on the head, we would focus our treatment on the organ which is in charge for the problem.

However, because our body consists of a complex network of organs, it is simply not possible to treat specific organs alone, in the sense of “isolated from the rest of the body”.

Let’s take the example of a baby who does not feed well.

When a baby is not feeding well, the problem is usually related to a weakness of her spleen.

That's because if the spleen is weak, it cannot properly extract energy from food that has been digested by the stomach. As a result, the baby won’t feel hungry. Moreover, she may have a weak constitution and / or vomit frequently.

Logically, we would apply a treatment which focuses on the spleen. And, indeed, oftentimes, this will be enough to help the baby. In fact, in some babies, the effect has been immediate.

However, it does not need to be. Because as we restore the normal function of the spleen, this will inevitably have an influence on the rest of the organ network.

So, in a way, when we stimulate the spleen, we will trigger a chain of reactions in the body. The body starts balancing itself. And this will take time.

In other words: you need to be patient before you are able to see any results. That's because every child and every case is different. In some children, it can work straight away. In other children, it will take time!

The only thing that is important is persistence! You have to apply a treatment regularly (ideally DAILY) to have results!
